Last
month our friend and employee, Benjamin, was interviewed for
a Christian publication out of Atlanta that was looking for
teens using their talents for Christ. The following is from
that interview. |
Q?:
Benjamin, tell us about the comic
strip for
youth leaders that you create
for the web site:
Benjamin:::
The comic strip teaches on a variety of
levels. The drawings attract people; the story line teaches Biblical
truths and shown a model of good youth work. It provides practical
answers in the context of real life situations. It shows a youth
leader who isn't perfect but who nonetheless provides a model
other leaders can follow. And it makes use of a creative method
of communication and teaching with the goal of helping youth leaders
have a fresh perspective on their ministry and giving them new
and highly effective tools.

Q?:
How has working on the comic strip
helped you personally?
Benjamin:::
First, it has helped me to really understand
and believe biblical truths. There are so many things that I believe
now, not just because I heard them in a lesson, but because I
have really 'adopted' them as being true.
It has also affected the way I see the world and I relate to other
people. I pay more attention now to my friends, especially those
who talk with me about their problems. Instead of just giving
them pat answers, I now want to share my Christian point of view.

on one
of his animated stories
Professionally, it has been an incredible opportunity. It has
definitely challenged me to work hard. In two years of work I
have amassed a large and high-quality portfolio of pictures. And
I have learned specific skills in computer, animation, and storyboarding.
If I had not had this opportunity, I would be a different person.
I would not have grown as much personally and professionally.
And even I were an excellent artist, my work would be empty. Knowing
that my drawings have a purpose and are helping people has given
a meaning to my work, far beyond my personal satisfaction.

Q?:
How
does it feel to be used of God in such a significant way?
Benjamin:::
It makes me feel very special to have been
given this unique opportunity. On my own I would never have accomplished
anything like this. I'm not a person who stands out at school,
but God has given me this opportunity to have an impact on thousands
of people all over the world. That overwhelms me.
